Dear Colleagues,


I am writing to give you an update on hiring a more permanent strategist for the Nonprofit Consortium. Hopefully by now you have seen the attached posting. We posted the position around March 1, 2021. The Executive Committee had a robust discussion about how to conduct an inclusive hiring process. Luckily we have two experts among us, Dee Sabol (Diversity Council) and Armin Budimlic (IMAA). Terri Allred’s 90 day interim contract period flew by! Terri’s contract ends on March 31st. She has agreed to continue on for 10 hours a week until April 30th to give us time to conduct an inclusive hiring process while not losing momentum. Here is our timeline and process:


January 1 – Terri started.
Mid-February – Executive Committee reviewed draft job description and met to discuss hiring/contracting process
Last week of February: Diversity Council team reviewed job description for bias and to make sure it was designed to recruit diverse candidates
Week of March 1st – IMAA posted job in traditional and non-traditional job boards to attract diverse candidates
March 31st – job posting closes
April 2nd and 5th – Initial zoom interviews for Candidates with Virginia & Armin (Virginia is managing this project for the team. Armin is an expert in diversity and inclusion.) Week of April 12th – Panel interviews for final candidates. Diversity Council and IMAA recruit panel of diverse stakeholders to interview candidates.
April 16th – Executive Committee meets to review recommendations from the interviewing panel, make final decision, and immediately extend an offer.

  • For the commercial sector, we tend to register startup activities (new companies and new commercial projects) that bring diversification and high-impact opportunities to the area.
  • For the non-profit sector, we wish to shine light on all the organizations and services that otherwise labor under relative obscurity.
  • Our hope is that will encourage cross-sector collaborations and creative solutions.

While there are a number of registries in the community,'s  distinct value is to pilot a database with a data structure and categorizations that answer the questions such as: What organizations or projects/programs in our community that have purported relevance with some of the over-arching focuses put forward by initiatives such as DMC, J2G and Health Improvements?

This database could be used as one of the ways to explore the capacities of the community. If you are someone on an exploratory journey to learn about the greater Rochester community. could be an interesting first step.

The following defines the various project phases:
  1. Available - a product, program or service is in production
  2. Develop - program or application is being developed
  3. Plan - idea is solid, stakeholders are identified, and there is strong commitment to go forward from all parties.
  4. Concept Phase - idea scoped out with enough details to give an early sizing and/or to build a proof of concept
  5. Pre-concept Phase - an early idea or a requirement.
